October 3, 2026 · Volokitin 1–0 Schwabeneder

After 45...Rb8+ · Stockfish +2.09 → +2.76

GM Andrei Volokitin (Tuxera ANSK, 2618) beat IM Florian Schwabeneder (2418) in 51 moves in round 1 of the Hungarian Superleague, with a king that walked from b2 to e6.

It went 26.Kb2, 29.Kb3, 37.Ka4, 38.Kb5, 39.Kxb6, taking a pawn, and 40.Kb7. After 45...Rb8+ it went on: 46.Kc6, 49.Kd5, 50.Ke6.

45...Rb8+ was the move Stockfish objected to. It wanted 45...Bf4, and counted White clearly better before (+2.09) and winning after (+2.76). 46.Kc6 was its first choice as well.

Tuxera ANSK won the match 9–1 and won again in round 2, 5½–4½.
